Men’s tennis releases full slate for 2024-25 – University of North Florida Athletics

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – North Florida men’s tennis will announce the full schedule for the 2024-25 season with four fall tournaments and 22 spring matches on Thursday afternoon.

The Ospreys will debut next month at the Mercer Invitational, 3-6. October, after which three more autumn tournaments will be held. A total of 22 games, including 12 at home, and eight conference games highlight UNF’s spring schedule as it seeks to defend its ASUN title from 17-20. April.

“We are really excited about our upcoming schedule this season,” the head coach said John Collins. “We have the opportunity to play some of the best teams and events in Florida, the Southeast and the nation. The ASUN schedule is another important part for us and we want to be the tightest team in the league. Go Ospreys!”

Fall tournament season

North Florida begins its fall tournament with the Mercer Invitational from 3-6. October John Collins‘ tenure as head coach. The ITA Southeast Regional will be held shortly thereafter on seven consecutive days from the 9th to the 15th. October, and will be hosted by UCF in Orlando, Fla.

The tournament season continues with the Bedford Cup, hosted by Florida on the 24th-27th. October in Gainesville, Fla. They will conclude their fall season with a three-day event at the Stetson Invitational on the 8th-10th. November.

Non-Conference Home Stretch
The Ospreys begin their spring 2024 campaign with their first home game under the head coach John Collins Against Troy on the 11th. January at the UNF Tennis Complex. That will be followed by another home weekend game against Florida Atlantic on the 18th. January.

After making a quick trip to Gainesville, Fla., for the road opener against Florida on the 20th. January, UNF returns home the next day to host South Carolina on January 21st. The Ospreys then return to Mercer on January 25th, followed by a home game against Gardner-Webb on the 27th. January.

Non-Conference Road Stretch
UNF begins its longest road stretch against Portland, Utah and Washington on the 31st. January – February. 2 in Seattle, Wash. After returning home for a game against USF on the 7th. February, the team will face UNC Wilmington on February 9.

Just prior to conference play, the Ospreys finished non-conference play with just three home games in just under five weeks. They open with Kennesaw State on February 14th, host UCF two weeks later on February 28th and finish with Cleveland State on March 11th.

Atlantic Sun Play
The Ospreys’ conference schedule begins with back-to-back games with trips to Queens and Eastern Kentucky on the 14th-16th. March. Next weekend is its ASUN home opener against Bellarmine on the 21st. March and with Austin Peay at home on March 23rd.

Another home weekend is on deck after in-state rivals FGCU and Stetson come to town 4-6. April. The final road trip of the season comes against Lipscomb and North Alabama on the 11th-13th. at the end of the regular season in April.

The 2024 Atlantic Sun Championship will be hosted by North Florida, which will look to defend its conference crown from 17-20. April at the UNF Tennis Complex.

Noteworthy (Spring ’25)

  • 22 games, 14 of which are non-conference and eight league games.
  • A total of 12 of the 22 games will be played at home, and 10 games will be played on the road.
  • A season-long stretch of four straight home games, with three games being the longest road trip.
  • North Florida has six in-state foes (FAU, Florida, USF, UCF, FGCU, Stetson).
  • North Florida plays in seven different states (Florida, Georgia, Washington, North Carolina, Kentucky, Tennessee, Alabama).
  • Four Power Four contests this year against Florida, South Carolina, Utah and Washington.
  • The Ospreys will see four teams for the first time in program history, covering South Carolina, Portland, Utah and Washington.
  • It will face teams from 12 conferences in the ASUN, American, Big 12, Big South, Big Ten, Colonial, C-USA, Horizon, Southern, SEC, Sun Belt and WCC.
  • He will also play four games against last year’s NCAA championship winning teams, including Florida, UCF, Cleveland State and UNC Wilmington.
