ACB Name Squad for South Africa ODIs

Kabul, September 12, 2024: The National Selection Committee of the Afghanistan Cricket Board today finalized the Afghanistan national team squad for the three-match ODI series against South Africa scheduled to be played from 18-22. September at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium in the United Arab Emirates.

Afghanistan will be without prolific top-order batsman Ibrahim Zadra, who has been ruled out of the series with a sprained left ankle. AfghanAtalan’s Lineup will continue to need the expertise of front-line spinner Mujeeb Ur Rahman, who is still not fully recovered from a sprained right finger.

Talented right-handed top-order batsman Abdul Malik, who recently produced incredible performances in domestic List A competitions, has been called in to cover the injured Ibrahim Zadran. Darwish Rasooli, who has had 7 T20I caps so far and has featured consistently in the recent List A Cup and SCL9, has been called up for the South African national team.

The AfghanAtalan line-up also includes the greatest spinner of all time, Rashid Khan, who missed the previous ODI series against Ireland. The rest of the squad remains the same that helped Afghanistan win the 3-match ODI series 2-nil against Ireland in March this year.

Ibrahim Zadran will also miss the ODIs in South Africa after spraining his ankle on the sidelines of the New Zealand Test. have included some top-performing youngsters in Abdul Malik and Darwish To Rasool.Allah Mohammad Ghazanfar is also a talented cricketer and he has recently shown his excellent skills and overshadows Mujeeb Ur Rahman in the series.
