LAWRENCE, Kan. – Head Coach of Kansas Women’s Tennis Todd Chapman announced the team’s 2024-25 schedule on Thursday, which includes fall tournaments and a competitive spring schedule.
“We are excited about our fall and spring schedule for the 2024-2025 season,” head coach Todd Chapman quoth. “We believe we have a good mix of five returning players and five new players that will allow us to return to the expectations of the Kansas tennis program. We have a very demanding fall and spring schedule ahead of us and I think we have a team that is excited to see where we stand nationally against the best teams.”
Kansas will begin its 2024 fall schedule with the ITA All-American Championships from 21-29. September in Cary, North Carolina. The Jayhawks will then travel to Dallas, Texas to compete in the SMU Invitational on April 4-6. October The team will travel to play in the ITA Central Region Championships in Memphis, Tennessee on the 10th-14th. October
Kansas will then head to Fort Worth, Texas to compete in the TCU Invitational, which will be held from 1-3. November. This will be the final regular season action for the Jayhawks, and postseason action will begin on the 7th-10th. November with the NCAA Sectionals in Ann Arbor, Michigan. The NCAA Individual Championships will then follow on the 19th-24th. November in Waco, Texas.
Kansas then begins its spring 2025 schedule with fourteen home, nine away and one tournament. The Jayhawks move into the 2024-25 season after going 10-14 in the 2023-24 season.
The Jayhawks begin action at the Battle at Indian Wells tournament in Indian Wells, California, on the 16th-18th. January. Kansas then returns home to face seven opponents. The first game will be played against UMKC on the 24th. January. The Jayhawks have another game against Creighton on the same day.
Next home duals are against Iowa (Jan. 26), Omaha and Wichita State (Jan. 31), Wisconsin (Feb. 7) and Arkansas (Feb. 9).
The Jayhawks will then embark on a short road trip with the first game against Old Dominion on the 14th. February in Richmond, Virginia. The two teams played last season, with Kansas winning the game 4-3. The second road game is two days later on February 16 against Clemson in Clemson, South Carolina.
Kansas then returns home for one game against Northwestern on the 23rd. February in Lawrence. They then embark on another road trip to face Texas Tech (Feb. 28) and Colorado (March 2), both on the opponents’ home courts.
The Jayhawks then have a two-game homestand against Arizona State (March 7) and Arizona (March 9). Then they embark on another road trip, this time at Houston (March 14) and UCF (March 16), both on the opponents’ home courts.
Kansas then has two home games in Lawrence against TCU (March 21) and Baylor (March 23). They then have three road games against Utah (March 27), BYU (March 29) and Iowa State (April 5), all on the opponents’ home courts. The Jayhawks then return home for their final two regular season singles against Oklahoma State (April 11) and Kansas State (April 13), both in Lawrence.
Kansas will then prepare for the Big 12 tournament in Waco, Texas on the 16th-19th. April.
The Jayhawks bring back a roster that ranks No. 69 in the nation in senior doubles. Gracie Mulville and junior Heike Janse van Vuuren. Mulville was also named the No. 116 singles player in the ITA Preseason Rankings.
Kansas finished the 2023-24 season 10-14 at home, 6-4, and looks to return to winning ways in 2024-25, as the Jayhawks have made six NCAA Tournament appearances since 2016. his freshman year, Kyoka Kubo was named ITA Central Region Rookie of the Year and was named to the Big 12 All-Freshman team after going 18-4 in freshman singles.
